Areej ElSayary

Curriculum Advisor & STEM Specialist at AlIttihad Private School. STEM Education Expert Speaker.

Areej M. Adel ElSayary is a Curriculum Advisor in Al Ittihad Private School, Jumeira, Dubai with full responsibility for curriculum and developing interdisciplinary framework of teaching STEAM. She received her Bsc. In Architecture Engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt.

After a four-year career as an engineer, she decided it was time for a change of scenery and moved to sunny Dubai, where she was offered a teaching position. She earned a MED (Science Stream with specialization in STEM) from the British University in Dubai BUID. She started her Phd. In Education (Transdisciplinary and Assessment) in the British University in Dubai.

She has co-authored a chapter in the “The Routledge International Handbook of Research on Teaching Thinking”. The chapter was named “STEM Education and Problem-based Learning”, the chapter was discussing the best strategies of teaching STEM and its impact on students’ learning. She shared in many conferences where she conducted variety of workshops. The latest contribution was the 3rd BUID Doctoral Research Conference 2017 where she presents a research about how STEM curriculum is viewed as innovative curriculum.

Her qualifications allow her to start an effective STEM program in her school since September 2014 where students were able to create innovative projects that are awarded every year and published in the news. In addition, her interdisciplinary framework has been appreciated by KHDA and used as a case study.

Shady Elkassas

Laura Toma

Education Consultant Bon Education.

Consultant with 8 years’ experience in public relations, marketing and education, currently working as Education Consultant managing a graduate program focused on creativity, innovation and project management. Previous to that, I managed an edtech startup in UAE working with a series of the biggest schools in Dubai for which I have introduced new course and session offerings ranging from mobile development to game design and up to VR. The role included managing the franchise established in Jordan and creating connections for additional offices in GCC and South East Asia. From 2011 to 2013, I had designed and managed educational programs for a major CSR client in Romania that enabled social entrepreneurship and fostered innovation in schools nationwide. I worked as Account Manager for two of the biggest communication groups in the world – BBDO & McCann – developing creative and innovative strategies for brands such as Nestlé, L’Oréal, Renault, and Nokia Siemens Networks.

Prabitha Prabhakaran

Independent STEM Education Consultant. STEM Expert Speaker.

An education management expert with over 10 years of experience in the industry that includes hands on teaching and management experience, Prabitha is strongly passionate about improving educational standards globally as well as help providing access to ‘quality’ education to every child. Fascinated by technological advances, she keenly embraces technology and believe in using it to achieve goals at a faster pace.

Heading the K-12 business in her previous assignment she co-founded the STEM Academy division and formulated customized STEM programs for schools, mapped to their curriculum. Being the Product Manager for LEGO Education, she has attended the 5- day course of STEM ‘TRAIN THE TRAINER’ program at LEGO Education in Denmark. She has been invited to be a Judge at the National Robotics Olympiad, UAE for 4 consecutive years. During her service all these years, she has worn many hats- that of a teacher, a manager, a trainer, a STEM consultant, an FLL coach, and loves to see children getting to the core of creativity using technology and robotics. Her most recent work includes a comprehensive STEM teacher guide for the KeyStage 3 level based on the electronics platform, ‘littleBits’ and IoT (Internet of Things).
